A unique collaboration with The William Morris Society
African Marigold was originally conceived by William Morris in 1876. Its intricate, ordered structure of marigolds, willow leaves and larger lilies creates an ornamental pattern that produces a striking graphic effect when viewed from a distance.
This 1880’s pattern was originally created as a ceiling decoration for A. A. Ionides, the wealthy resident of this exclusive London address, No 1 Holland Park. Repeating as a kaleidoscope-like mirroring, the pattern features lilies, a flower loved by William Morris and used frequently in his designs.
Granville’s cleverly repeating graphic pattern is characterised by large, bold acanthus leaves set against a bed of smaller flowers. On the wall, both the front and back of the leaves are visible, giving the pattern subtle, three-dimensional depth.
As its name suggests, Vine features lush bunches of plump grapes set against hypnotically circulating vine stems and willow and vine leaves. Rich in detail and contrast, Vine is a faithful interpretation of a classic William Morris pattern from 1873.
Simple yet still able to create a strong visual impression, the mighty English oak tree is celebrated in this original Morris pattern. Across the wallpaper’s well-positioned repeating pattern, soft curved branches, joyful sweeps of foliage and delicate acorns jostle for space, creating a striking yet subtle classic.
Reimagined from a late 1890’s sketch, anemone flowers intricately weave their way through a sea of scalloped leaves. The result is a fusion of modern and delicate that creates a harmonic backdrop to any space.
The River Cray meanders through the picturesque English county of Kent and its tranquil beauty inspired William Morris to create this striking design. The pattern creates a beautiful diagonal effect, and together with the backdrop of smaller flowers and larger peonies, it lends the wall a rich, elegant feeling.
This mesmerising pattern was first conceived in 1879 and its intertwined foliage continues to captivate to this day. Mallow is a simple pattern that creates a rich impression and adds elegance to any interior.
Celebrating Morris’ lifelong love of nature, the ‘Hidden Treasures’ collection does much more than amplify echoes from the past. It transforms them into elegant interior design classics that add distinct character to the walls of any home.
Although it’s well over 100 years since he passed, iconic English designer William Morris continues to have a profound influence on contemporary design. With Hidden Treasures, a series of previously unseen Morris sketches have been faithfully recreated by acclaimed Swedish designer Björn Nilsson.
